[Thankful Thursday]

Hummus. Ok, so it’s not really that I’m thankful for hummus per se, but more that it was when CT and I finally managed to catch up over a delicious meal of hummus and other small eats. It’s been too long since our (as she puts it) “food dates”, and the night certainly passed by in a flash as we were busy chatting and laughing our way away. Sometimes I wonder what I’d do without certain people in my life, and CT is definitely one of those people!  Read More »

[Thankful Thursday]

There is only 3 weeks until Christmas! How can that be? Where has 2016 gone, my friends? This week has been particularly busy and stressful, more so that I’d care to welcome. After an entire year, I wonder if I’m feeling a bit burnt out by the flurry of activity that’s happened this year!

With busy-ness, comes difficulty to really sit down and reflect, but there are nevertheless, things to be thankful for.

[eating out]: Chicho Gelato (Northbridge)

I’ve always felt Perth is lacking in the gelato and dessert department. There are now quite a few popping up (e.g., Whisk, Gusto Gelato, Bites by D, Chu Bakery, etc). Gelato, for me, is a bit of a hit and miss. I’m the type of person who loves frozen hard ice-cream (Baskin Robbins is a childhood fav of mine), so when gelato is the really soft type, it isn’t the most enjoyable or satisfying thing for me.

Chicho Gelato, however, is a different story.

[Thankful Thursday]

Umm, how is it Thursday already? So many things have happened in the past week, I lose track of time, and how much I have scheduled for the weeks to come!

1. Yoga. In the final year of my PhD, yoga was one of my saving graces. It was the only hour of the day where I didn’t think of my PhD at all. Instead, I was busy thinking about how I couldn’t feel my thighs from holding crescent lunge for (what seemed to be) 10,000 breaths. After falling off the yoga wagon, I want to get back into it, and went to a core power session on Tuesday. Let’s just say that it was intense, and I still have tender glutes. Looking forward to some quick daily yoga practice though!

[eating out]: Bites by D (Mt. Hawthorn)

I have come to realise that Mt. Hawthorn is one of the most inconvenient places for me to get to. I like direct routes to places, and Mt Hawthorn is the complete opposite. There’s not one road I can go along then easily turn off and reach the place. Instead, I have to turn onto another main road from the freeway then another one, then some small streets. Who else finds these kinds of routes annoying?

Anyway! I digress. After a few weeks of planning and a long email thread, it was finally time for my friend’s (CT) high tea at Bites by D! (In case you didn’t know already, they have really pretty cakes).

[Thankful Thursday]

My, what a whirwind of a week it has been! Whilst most days were generally quiet and relatively slow, it seemed like things were paused to bombard me all at once! Some days it felt like time wasn’t passing at all, but other days zoomed by before I realised. Nevertheless, even in the ‘busy-ness’ of our lives, there is always something to be thankful for in our daily lives.

1. Warmer weather: Funnily enough, a blood test a month ago actually showed I had depleted Vitamin D levels. I’ve never had that before and it’s hilarious because I was just lamenting to my GP that I am so sick of the cool weather. Well, it seems God has heard my complaints and blessed us with beautiful warmer weather!  I’m not a summer person at all, and I always complain about the heat, but I am SO looking forward to getting some colour to my pasty legs! haha.

2. New opportunities: I had to make a somewhat difficult decision a few weeks ago. After some discussion with my besties, I decided to take the leap and boy am I glad I did! As that door closed, another one opened with more potential for my future. I’m looking forward to seeing what this brings me for the remainder of the year, and hopefully the next!

Thanks for reading! ^^ Can’t wait to see what this coming week brings!
