[eating out]: Bib & Tucker (North Freo)

Yet another Freo outing roadtrip for a catchup with AS and S one weekend. After perusing a few menus, we opted for Bib & Tucker.

It was fairly busy but we managed to get a table outside. It was quite windy and deceptively cold though!

S ordered the toast with preserves and added additional items to make what AS and I deemed “The S breakfast”. Though looking a bit insipid, SP said the bacon was tasty. The egg was beautifully poached, and there was some major envy from me as I ate the overcooked eggs in my dish. Sadly, the mushrooms were tasteless according to SP and she didn’t end up finishing them.

AS and I both chose the shakshuka. It was a great choice for the windy weather, but sadly it really failed to hit the mark. I was excited about the smoked almond hummus, but sadly, there was little-to-no smokiness in the dish. The eggs were sinfully overcooked and the flatbread was a bit stale and tasteless. We both thought that actual bread would have been better, and agreed that this was a disappointing dish, especially given the price.

Sadly, out visit was a less enjoyable one but I know for sure their chargrilled octopus is delicious so perhaps we chose the wrong dishes and/or went on a bad day.
